My Bucket List

As you may know, I like lists. One is called “Things to Do Before I Die” or more easily known as “The Bucket List.” I haven’t seen the movie, but I’ve heard it’s a tear-jerker. You’ve probably heard of it. Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman play two terminally ill men with cancer who decide to live it up and get things checked off “the bucket list” that they make. Anyways, I had my list before the movie came out, but it seems like the idea has become pretty popular.

I did a little Google-searching and found these two Web sites…

One Web site, Your 100 Things, is really cool because people can create a life list for everyone to see and then others can leave comments of encouragement. It’s cool to see what others are aiming for!

Another site, 1000 Things to Do Before You Die, catches the eye with bright colors and interesting pictures. The interactive site will actually come out next month and the book is due out next year. It is mainly a list of amazing travel spots, I think. They have a pretty crazy list of unique things that they’ve done. Like spending 3 months in India…

I recently knocked off numbers 14 and 57 from my list: TP a house and go cliff jumping, respectively. That’s right, I TPed my first house a little more than a week ago AND it was 10 p.m. at a house on a busy street. It took two people and I would put pictures on Facebook but…obviously, I’m sure they don’t know I was involved. I also went cliff jumping recently. I have the bruises to prove it. I really need to make use of the video feature on my camera more. It would have been pretty cool to have gotten my jump on video! YouTube Pace Bend Cliff Jumping and then just imagine it’s me.

What was cliff jumping like? Well, it was a 60-70 feet (no one really knows?) jump. I can’t really make you see how high it is. Maybe the following picture will help? This tower is supposed to be about 60-70 feet. Anyways, the landing was rough and the results, a la bruises, make everything seem worse than it felt. After the initial sting (like a powerful hand slap on your bare booty), it was totally fine, as I am now. It was such a weird experience because I was standing at the top of a cliff and could see out a great distance. Then after I ran and jumped…and didn’t land when I thought I would like I was jumping in a pool because I was falling so far, I think I sort of panicked and went thoughtless. Cool. Would I do it again? Sitting here, I say YES! On top of that cliff, I might chicken out. Sky diving is on the bucket list too…

There are so many easy things to do on my list like buy a lottery ticket and be a vegetarian for a week and ride an elephant. You know, simple, everyday tasks. If I were cool enough, I would have a link HERE to a PDF, but alas, I’m not, so ask me to e-mail it to you if you’d like. AND please post your suggestions of what I should add to the list!
